Instructional

FAQ's regarding our Instructional level can be found HERE

The objective of the Instructional League is to offer all players an equal chance to learn the basics of baseball in a fun and safe environment. Instructional league is not a baseball camp. This is a structured league including organized practices and organized games against other co-ed teams with players five and six years of age.

During this level of play your child will be introduced to the game of baseball. Your child will be instructed on the proper techniques of hitting, fielding, base running, teamwork, sportsmanship and more.

The instruction and learning continues throughout the season when practice sessions are over and organized games with other teams are played. During game play coaches will continue teaching the players by instructing them while on the field with the players.

This level is constructed in a way to provide pressure free fun baseball for all players. One way this is accomplished is by not keeping score of the game. There are no outs or strike outs at this level. Every player will get a chance to bat once every inning and hit the ball into play, either from a Tee or from a coach pitched ball. The last batter in the line-up gets to hit a homerun! Since we use a continuous batting order, every player will hit a couple homeruns in a season. Players are never benched during a game and all of the players are stationed accordingly in the field while the opposing team is up to bat.

Overall, the Instructional level attempts to teach our players by repetition, hands on play and a lot of guidance. We strive to make it a fun experience for the children and we try our best to build player confidence for the future years of baseball or softball your child will play.

In following years your child will move up to the higher leagues within the BBSA. The complimentary homeruns, the no strike outs, not being called out and coach pitch will become a thing of the past. One characteristic that doesn’t change is the dedication the BBSA has to teach baseball to all of its players in a fun and safe environment for the players, parents and spectators enjoyment.
